The Office of Child Advocate (OCA) works to ensure that every child involved with state agencies in Massachusetts is protected from harm and receives quality services. It collaborates with legislators, social workers, doctors, administrators, and other professionals to improve services to children and families and issues an annual report with recommendations for improvements.

The OCA, first established in 2008, is responsible for promoting the safety and well-being of children and their families throughout the state. The OCA is an independent office and reports directly to the Governor. It works to promote integration among state agencies, courts, schools, and health service providers so that children and families can connect to resources in their communities. In addition, the OCA operates a Helpline and reviews fatalities, near fatalities, and serious injuries of children receiving services from state agencies.
